The original construction and design for Factory Lofts was to build out the space for office use.  Post covid this was not a viable option, and planning was set into place to convert the existing 110,513 sqft space into 27 high end apartments for students at the University of Minnesota.  Unique design components of Factory Lofts include the use of the space with 22’ high ceilings against an exterior wall made of glass.  Solar tubes and skylights were installed to bring natural light to the amenity and common area spaces.  Custom hand made light fixtures accent the kitchen islands and the main entries.  Barn wood acoustical arches set against barnwood alcoves and steel wainscoting break up the long corridor walls.
