The Burnes Building was named after Dr. Catherine Burnes, who was the first woman to receive a medical degree from the University of Minnesota, and served as Hopkins’ first doctor in the late 1800s. This four-story wood framed over precast building consists of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments, making up 43 apartment units. Exterior street side is mainly finished with brick to enhance the appearance of Main Street. The storefront windows on the Main Street side help showcase the amenity spaces and allow for adequate natural lighting. All the units are affordable for families earning 50% or less of the area median income.
